This is the blog of two cool kids from Chicago.
Wow, I love your blog. Just imagine how interesting it will be to look back after a year of learning and creativity. Cheers from Australia.
ReplyDeleteYour story is lovely. It inspired me to look up the Latin meaning of my name, Karen:
ReplyDeleteKaren = Variant of Catherine: Pure, clear. Form of the Latin 'Katharina', from the Greek 'Aikaterina'. It was borne by a number of saints, including St Catherine of Alexandria, a 4th century martyr who suffered torture on a spiked wheel.
I'm relieved my paternal Grandmother didn't get to choose my name, even though she really wanted to, since her name was Norma.
I learned that there is a Hill Tribe named "Karen" in the North of Thailand. So you may have a Beatles song, but I have my own tribe. :)
I love how you used such wonderful expression when you shared your poem, Julia. I also like how you sometimes came closer to the camera and whispered to us.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. There is power in a name, and power in knowing what your name means to you. Keep up the great work.
Cheers from Augusta, Maine. :-)
